You definitely need to be a Master Mason to join. The York Rite is considered a set of higher degrees. Like a continued education from what the Freemason receives in the Blue Lodge.

The York Rite Bodies are composed of four organizations:
- The Symbolic Lodge (Blue Lodge)
- The Chapter of Royal Arch Masons
- The Council of Royal and Select Masters (Cryptic Council)
- The Commandery of Knights Templar
In Florida, as in many other jurisdictions within the United States, the Blue Lodge follows the York Rite ritual. However, the Grand Lodge of Florida is the highest authority above all other Masonic organizations. The Chapter, Council and Commandery are considered Appendant Bodies.
Each of the scrolling items below is a link to a York Rite district. Click on the district closest to your location and take note of the Royal Arch body. It shows the Lodge building in which the York Rite meets. You can see the address where the meetings take place and the dates and times.
The York Rite confers degrees and chivalric Orders which are full of moral and spiritual lessons. The York Rite is the “mystical” side of Masonry. If you are a Master Mason and have not received the degrees of the York Rite, your journey is still incomplete.
The York Rite is composed of three bodies. Each confers degrees or chivalric orders:
The Chapter of Royal Arch Masons confers four degrees:
- Mark Master Degree
- Past Master Degree (virtual)
- Most Excellent Master Degree
- Royal Arch Degree
The Council of Royal and Select Masters confers three degrees:
- Royal Master Degree
- Select Master Degree
- Super Excellent Master Degree (honorary)
The Commandery of Knights Templar confers three chivalric orders:
- Order of the Red Cross
- Order of Malta
- Order of the Temple
In total, there are 10 degrees and Orders that are conferred by the York Rite.
