GRAND CHAPTER OF ROYAL ARCH MASONS

The Greeks had two words that I believe capture the challenge facing Royal Arch Masonry today:

• Theoria — vision, symbolism, the capacity to see what is true and worth pursuing
• Praxis — embodied action, the discipline of living out that vision until it becomes second nature

Our degrees give us theoria in abundance. The question for the year ahead is what we are doing with it.

We do not have a knowledge problem in Royal Arch Masonry. We have a practice problem. We give our Companions the beautiful drama of the veils, the descent into the vault, the recovery of the Lost Word — and then we send them home without a structured path for living what they have just received. Every initiative I am proposing for the coming year asks the same question: not “what should we know?” but “what are we actually doing with what we already know?”
